Fox Fork Fender Guide

Intro

Not every ride is filled with velcro dirt and blue skies. More often than not, the shoes get pulled off the boot dryer from yesterday's antics, and they'll be right back where they came from in a few hours time. Fenders are a mainstay on every bike in this part of the world, and integrated OEM options like those from Fox offer a sleek and effective dirt mitigation strategy. For 2026, Fox is introducing redesigned fenders to pair with their brand new line of 36 forks, and continuing to offer their classic fenders that have been around for years.

Just a few weeks ago, Fox's new lineup of 36 forks hit the mainstream, featuring the updated classic Fox 36 along with the new Fox 36 SL. Both of these forks tout a redesigned arch, with relocated mounting points for the fender. These new forks now use four mounting bolts rather than the two bolts + bleeder mounts used on the previous generation, rendering the new fenders not compatible with any previous generation forks.

Let's clear up exactly which style of fenders are compatible with which generation of forks!

Once you've figured out which style of fender you need, you get to choose between the Short and the Long fenders. It's easy to overthink this one, but don't worry, the choice is pretty simple. If you're out riding while it's actively raining during the wet months, we definitely recommend getting the Long fender, no matter which fork you have. There's really no downside to running the longer fender besides a couple of extra grams, which is well worth the added protection! But if you live in the Southern California endless summer and want a little protection for the occasional creek crossing, the Short fender will be perfect for you.
